Types of Braces
Metal braces are the most common type of braces. With technology advancing they are now sleeker, smaller, and more comfortable than before. They consist of stainless steel, metal brackets and archwires. As well as elastic bands that come in a range of colors for a fun colorful smile. Metal braces require periodic tightening in order for constant pressure to gradually straighten your teeth and align your jaw to the perfect position.
Ceramic braces straighten and align the same as metal braces, but they are made with different materials to create a less noticeable look. Usually made of ceramic or porcelain, the brackets can be clear or colored to be the same color of your teeth. They are usually used on adults or older teens who want a straight smile without the appliances being too visible.
Clear aligners show off your smile so people may not even realize you’re wearing them. You will go through a series of the clear, removable aligners to get you to your best smile. They are custom made every few weeks to fit over your teeth, to gradually move your teeth. Clear aligners are comfortable and convenient to wear, and to take out for daily oral hygiene routine.
